CM3121 / CM3132
Dual & Triple Output Voltage Regulators

for DDR-I and DDR-II Memory and CPU Power Applications

Lead-free Solution

Product Overview
California Micro Devices introduces the CM3121 and CM3132 Linear Regulators designed specifically for V
CORE and VDDQ/VTT power applications. These devices provide a complete power solution for DDR-I and DDR-II memory and system-on-chip applications. The CM3132 features three independent all linear regulators which provide a complete power solution for applications requiring a CPU VCORE supply and a VDDQ and VTT supply for DDR-I memory. The CM3121 offers a complete power solution for both DDR-I and DDR-II memory applications, featuring two all linear regulators for VDDQ and VTT supply requirements. These devices are ideal for power applications typically found in today's consumer electronics and communications systems.

The CM3121 and CM3132 are both available in a thermally enhanced 8 lead PSOP package with an integrated heat spreader on the bottom side of the chip which provides excellent thermal dissipation into a PCB heat sink. Both devices are available with either eutectic (lead based) or lead free finishing.

Product Features
CM3132 Triple Voltage Regulator
The CM3132 provides an integrated power solution for a CPU core and DDR-I memory for consumer and other embedded applications. It features three independent linear regulators for VCORE, VDDQ and VTT supply regulation. The VCORE regulator can supply up to 1.5A of current. The SENSE_CORE pin controls the VCORE output voltage and when tied to GND, sets the VCORE output at the default voltage of 1.5V. The SENSE_CORE pin can also be tied to a resistor divider to set the CPU core voltage in the range 1.2V to 1.8V. The VDDQ regulator, which is capable of supplying up to 1.5A of output current, is internally set to 2.50V. The VTT regulator output voltage is always one half the VDDQ voltage. A capacitor should be connected to each of the three outputs.
There are two enable pins,
EN_CORE and EN_DDR. When EN_CORE is set high, the CORE regulator is disabled. When EN_DDR is set high, the two DDR regulators are disabled to minimize overall system power dissipation when memory is in standby mode. These two enable pins allow power sequencing of the DDR and CORE regulator blocks independently.

CM3121 Dual Linear Voltage Regulator for DDR-I/-II Memory Applications
The CM3121 provides a complete power solution for DDR-I and DDR-II memory systems in consumer and other embedded applications. It features two linear regulators for VDDQ and VTT supply regulation. The VDDQ regulator, which is capable of supplying up to 1.5A of output current, is internally set to a default output voltage of 2.50V, ideal for DDR-I memory requirements. By tying the SENSE_VDDQ input to a voltage divider network, the VDDQ output can be set for DDR-II memory or other adjustable output applications. The VTT regulator output voltage is always one half the VDDQ voltage. The CM3121 features a SENSE_VTT input which can be used to control the VTT output voltage accuracy.
The CM3121 incorporates a single enable pin,
EN_DDR. When this input is set high, the two DDR regulators are disabled to minimize overall system power dissipation when memory is in standby mode. This pin allows power sequencing of the DDR regulator block when required.
The CM3121 features a FAULT output which goes low whenever either of the two regulators goes into current limit mode, the input voltage drops to far or if an over temperature condition occurs.

The features of the CM3132 and CM3121 are as follows:

  • Fully integrated power solution for a CPU core and DDR-I memory ICs (CM3132) or DDR-I/-II memory ICs only (CM3121)
