California Micro Devices introduces the PicoGuard CM1227, a low capacitance electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection device consisting of four channels of ESD protection for the latest consumer, computer and related peripheral devices using high speed interfaces such as USB3.0, MIPI®, eSATA, DisplayPort and FireWire. These interfaces use low voltage signals with very fast rise and fall times and are susceptible to signal integrity degregation issues when capacitive devices such as ESD protection diodes are attached to the interface's signal lines. The CM1227, with its industry leading low input channel capacitance of 0.35pF (typ.), allows design engineers to utilize ESD protection on these signals with minimal channel capacitance effects from the protection device. The result is superior signal integrity on these protected interfaces when compared with designs utilizing higher capacitance ESD protection solutions.
The CM1227 is based on CMD's PicoGuard line of ESD protection products, providing industry leading low levels of capacitance, dynamic resistance, clamping voltage and insertion loss. Utilizing a space efficient microUDFN package, the CM1227 combines industry leading performance with significant space and cost savings to deliver enhanced customer value for today's most advanced digital consumer and PC designs.
