California Micro Devices Presents ASIP™ EMI and ESD
Solutions at 3GSM World Congress
Presenting New Praetorian® Integrated Devices with Unsurpassed
EMI Filtering Performance for Wireless Handsets

CANNES, France, -- Feb. 9, 2005 -- California Micro Devices (NASDAQ: CAMD) today announced it will be showcasing its popular Application Specific Integrated Passive™ (ASIP™) solutions for the latest wireless handsets at 3GSM World Congress ’05. A new family of Praetorian® EMI (electromagnetic interference) inductor-based filter arrays for clamshell handsets will be on display for the first time. They offer unprecedented levels of EMI filtering and robust ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection for high speed interfaces thanks to the company’s patent-pending Praetorian® process technology.

New Groundbreaking Praetorian® Products Unveiled
California Micro Devices’ patent-pending Praetorian
® process technology allows the integration of spiral inductors with resistors, capacitors and ESD protection diodes in a single chip design. The CM1450 and CM1451 Praetorian® EMI filters are the first to utilize this new process, offering high cutoff frequencies, minimal insertion loss, sharp rolloff and greater levels of attenuation at high frequencies (see separate product release). Praetorian® EMI filters are ideal for display and imager interfaces, as well as audio filtering applications.

Innovative Technology Designed Into Leading Mobile Platforms
California Micro Devices’ growing portfolio of chip scale (CSP) and packaged ASIP™ devices delivers the highest levels of EMI filtering combined with robust ESD protection. Utilizing an application specific design methodology, the company produces highly integrated solutions that address the EMI and ESD requirements for leading handset data interfaces, including the color LCD, CMOS imager, audio and chip card interfaces. These high volume, general customer solutions are designed into the latest wireless handsets from such leading vendors as LG, Motorola, Samsung and others.

Booth Highlights
Major applications that California Micro Devices will be presenting include:

  • Praetorian® EMI filter arrays for high speed interfaces with unprecedented EMI filter performance;
  • Centurion™ advanced Zener process low capacitance EMI filters with ESD protection for high speed color LCD and camera interfaces;
  • Low capacitance EMI filter arrays with ESD protection for SD Memory Card and MMC interfaces;
  • A family of USB transceivers to address the data interface needs of today’s mobile electronics;
  • Keypad multiplexer solutions for wireless handsets that extend keypad functionality.
