California Micro Devices Achieves Major Shipment
Milestone for CSP ASIP™ Solutions
Business Grows to 579 Million Units Due to Market
Acceptance and Manufacturing Capacity

MILPITAS, Calif., -- Jan. 24, 2005 -- California Micro Devices (NASDAQ: CAMD) today announced that cumulative shipments of its chip scale packaged (CSP) Application Specific Integrated Passive™ (ASIP™) devices for mobile handsets exceeded half a billion units as of December 31, 2004. A new record of nearly 120 million units was shipped during the December quarter, continuing a steep ramp which began with initial CSP shipments in 2001. The company credits this rapid growth to strong market acceptance of its highly integrated, Application Specific Integrated Passive™ (ASIP™) devices which provide superior electrical performance, a compact form factor and substantial cost savings. During the last twelve months, California Micro Devices has introduced the highly successful Centurion™ second generation Zener family of EMI (electromagnetic interference) filter arrays with ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection, followed by the launch of the Praetorian® advanced ASIP™ process last quarter, establishing a new industry benchmark for EMI filter performance by implementing inductors on top of the silicon circuit.

“We believe we are the highest volume producer of CSP products for mobile handsets,” said Manny Mere, vice president of supply chain management at California Micro Devices. “This milestone is a testament to the efforts of the CMD team and our supply chain partners working together to rapidly increase production volumes while maintaining the highest level of product quality.”

Advantages of CSPs
California Micro Devices was an early adopter of CSP technology, and among the first to incorporate integrated passive devices into the CSP format. With some ASIP™ devices replacing as many as 40 discrete parts, customers can reduce board space, increase reliability, achieve superior high frequency performance and lower overall solution cost, clear advantages when designing space constrained mobile handsets and other handheld products.
